A Courtyard Garden

As can be seen from the first two photographs much of the building rubble from the recent extension to the property was left on site and even some of the drainage was exposed.  A rather defiant last stand by the client was a barbecue which had recently been used.  Work began in earnest to create a garden on different levels and a combination of railway sleepers and decking produced the main patio area.  It was decided towards the end of the design process to incorporate the jacuzzi which was built from concrete blocks and tiled.  It was felt desirable to keep some farm features within the garden and a pig feeder was used to make a water feature.  There was also a trough within the barn area that we turned into a rill complete with coloured lights.  The style of fencing and gate was constructed from timber rounds in order to be in keeping with surroundings.

 "Siena" block paving was selected for the main driveway and was also used to produce a common link under the barn area.  This resulted in a very cost effective method of surfacing such a large area whilst maintaining a high aesthetic value and easy maintenance.  The garden had not been constructed long before the jacuzzi was in use and being enjoyed by many.  It would have been rude not to try it!
